Who we are

HomeKoTo ("we," "us") is a free education resource for first-time and new home buyers in Calgary, Alberta. HomeKoTo.ca is wholly owned and operated by Aware Financial, the fee-for-service financial planning practice of Hervin Pesa, CFP (awarefinancial.ca). We work in partnership with Blas Realty Group and Worry Free Mortgage. Contact: hello@homekoto.ca.

What we collect

We only ask for what we need:

• Contact info you give us — name and email — when you request your Free Home Plan, unlock the 30-day series, or send us a message.
• Plan inputs — timeline, target price, savings breakdown — that you enter into our planning tools. This lives in your browser (localStorage) unless you ask us to email your plan.
• Basic site analytics — pages visited, device type, referring site. We do not build advertising profiles.

We do not ask for your SIN, banking details, or credit score. Ever.

Why we use it

• To email you the guides, lessons, or personalized plan you asked for.
• To introduce you to a vetted real estate or mortgage partner — Blas Realty Group or Worry Free Mortgage — when you ask.
• To improve the site (which lessons help, which are confusing).

Who we share with

We share your contact info with a partner (for example, Blas Realty Group or Worry Free Mortgage) only when you ask us to connect you. We never sell your data. We never rent it. We do not share it with advertisers.

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site — hosting, email delivery, and analytics. They process data on our behalf under contract.

Your rights (PIPEDA & Alberta PIPA)

You can, at any time:

• Ask what we have on file.
• Ask us to correct it.
• Ask us to delete it.
• Withdraw consent and unsubscribe.

How long we keep it

We keep contact info for as long as you want to hear from us, plus a short period for our records. Plan inputs stored in your browser stay on your device until you clear them.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and reasonable safeguards at rest. No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects you, we will tell you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site.
